TRANSPORTATION & ACCUMULATION PROCESSES
The map above shows the diffrent processes taking place on the seafloor in the area. The accumulation areas are given by the light pink, these areas are often also containg recently accumulated sediments. The map is based on the top layer of the marine sediment and has been classified as; bedrock as erosion bottom, sand and gravel as transport bottom and finesand to clay as accumulation bottom. this classification is based on the Hjultröm diagram showing grainsize and energy relationship.
When analyzing the bottom sediment a clear connection between the accumulation areas and the pollution sources can be seen. This is due to the fact that both residential areas and the small boat harbours as well as marina often are located in calmer waters in the close to shore archipelago. This is also the places with the highest accumulation rate due to the low energy environment. This area also has a large input of pollutants and sediments from terrestrial sources transported to the marine system trough the freshwater input shown in the map by the hydrograpical features. In addition, the hydrography in this area seems to be connected to the agricultural areas making it a transport stressor for nutrients and pesticides, which will end up in the marine environment causing eutriphication and effecting the marine organisms.
